The project involved the conversion of a 1800s stone barn into a residence. The barn had received little attention since the 1800s and such was the challenge that only one (brave) builder was willing to work with us on the project.
Working with a very limited budget we reused every piece of timber removed from the original structure, retained all of the stone and ‘reinvented’ some of the original elements to incorporate them into the finished project. An open creative hand from the client was the catalyst for the creation of this work that received the national AIA Architecture Award for Small Project in 2010, thanks to a large degree must go to ‘builders, Merlin Constructions’
